Tomorrow, on March 8th, Clay will join the world in celebrating International Women’s Day 2018. International Women’s Day celebrates social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women as well as encourages action from us all to accelerate gender equality across the globe.
This year the campaign theme for International Women’s Day is #PressforProgress. As stated on the International Women’s Day website; International Women’s Day is powered by the collective efforts of us all. Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity are what makes International Women’s Day successful. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained: “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.” So, make International Women’s Day your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.

It is important that we support women all over the globe who are working to improve gender parity, and as technology companies that we celebrate our female colleagues, business partners, customers, blog readers, and social followers who work, study, or are aspiring to be a part of the tech industry.
And without further ado, I would like to present to you my intelligent, talented #girlboss colleagues at Clay, who deserve celebration this International Women’s Day.
Babet van Oorschot
Our in-house recruiter Babet started her Clay journey at the beginning of 2016. She is the youngest female on our team, with never-ending motivation to make sure we recruit top talent that fits our awesome team. She’s always on the lookout for strong female talent to join the Clay family. Babet is also the creator of our girls-only Slack channel (yes guys, surprise surprise!), much appreciated!
Chantal is our first female employee at Clay! Even though she is Dutch, she relocated from the UK for her role. She has been supporting Clay customers since 2014. Besides making sure customers are happy, she also trains SALTO tech support worldwide. Chantal is also the first mom in our office, we’re delighted to welcome baby Melin to our big family. The second female to join the team after Chantal is Kris. Kris is not only our Office Manager but also a recent addition to our Marketing team as Online Content Specialist. She is the witty author behind many of our blog posts and in charge of our social media. She is also the true master of all awesome Clay events.
Latha is the one and only female engineer on our team. As the QA Engineer, she helps Clay deliver a ready product at the end of every sprint. Previously Latha was part of the quality team at Google, in India. She is also the only one in the office with her own ‘Latha approves’ stamp with her face on it, #girlboss!
Lastly, author of this blog post, our Marketing Manager Irem. With a law degree, Irem has chosen to leave M&As behind and dive into the tech industry. She has worked in e-commerce, started her own startup and more than a year ago ended up at Clay. She dedicates every day to make sure Clay will not go unseen in the cloud-based access control world.
As women working to make waves in a traditionally male-led technology industry, we urge you to follow your dreams, possibly join us as developers, inventors, entrepreneurs and inspire younger generations who will help shape the future of our industries.
